BREAKING: Kogi Governor Ododo Flags-Off Distribution of Foods Palliative To Citizens

PHOTO NEWS: The Governor of Kogi State Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo officially flags off the distribution of foods palliative to the people of Kogi State.

The flag-off event took place at the capital of the state at Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja.

The Governor shows empathy in his speech and strictly directs that the food palliatives should be directed to the needy, excluding government officials from the people eligible to benefit from the palliatives.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Oladele J. Nihi, the governor's full speech goes thus;

"Today, I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude and admiration as we come together to express our profound appreciation to Mr. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for his unwavering support in facilitating the distribution of palliatives to the indigent members of our community. This noble initiative exemplifies his commitment to the welfare and well-being of all Nigerians, especially those most in need.

The current challenges we face as a nation demand that we strengthen social safety nets, provide emergency assistance and ensure access to essential services in ways that our people will not feel abandoned by their very own people they have voted into positions of responsibility.

This initiative is coming at a time when our administration is also taking enduring measures to guarantee food security in our state by working on long-term agricultural development plans to increase food and livestock production as we must produce what we eat, eat what we produce, and even produce what others eat.

I also want to take this opportunity to commend the people of our state for their understanding, patience, and resilience throughout this challenging period. Indeed, this has now shown that the unity laid down by my predecessor Alhaji Yahaya Bello (CON) has come to stay.

Your cooperation and solidarity have been instrumental in ensuring that these essential provisions reach those who need them most at this very material time.

As we are set to flag off the first quarterly 2024 food palliative for the people of Kogi state, let me caution that this intervention is meant for the people at the lower level of the socio-economic spectrum of society.

Our modality for distribution is water-tight to ensure hitch-free distribution to households across the 239 wards in the 21 local government areas of the state.

We have put in place a mechanism to track, identify, and deal decisively with those who may want to test our resolve by hoarding or diverting the items from those who need them most among us.

This is to keep our focus on sustainable and long-lasting measures to ensure food security and banish economic hardship in Kogi State.

At this juncture, I want to commend our vendors for delivering these items with a rare speed and uncommon patriotic intent despite not receiving payments from the state government.

It is now my utmost pleasure and honor to flag off the first quarterly 2024 food palliatives for the people of Kogi State in line with our campaign promises.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. President for his unwavering support and effort to cushion the effect of economic hardship to the people of our dear state for their understanding and solidarity. Together we shall succeed."
