BREAKING: 3 Crushed to Death as Container Falls off a Truck Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A container that had fallen from a truck at Mowe on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway crushed three individuals to death.

On Saturday morning, February 17, 2024, the container fell from a vehicle bearing the license plate T-1563 LA, trapping the three victims who were reportedly riding in a Howo truck without a license plate.

In a statement, the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, Ogun State Sector Command, and others verified the occurrence and attributed its cause to reckless driving resulting in a loss of control.

The driver and two passengers were reportedly among the victims that the FRSC rescue squad attempted to save, but they were reportedly unable to survive the severity of their injuries. Their corpses were reported to have been deposited at a morgue in Sagamu.

Part of the statement said, "The FRSC personnel in Mowe conducted a rescue operation at approximately 0107 hours on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway surrounding Mowe, involving two trucks—a HowoTruck without a number on it and a T-15636LA Bluebird—with registration numbers.
